Loch Lomond was once the stronghold of the ancient Celtic Earls of Lennox . The clan Macfarlane guarded the pass from Loch Long to Loch Lomond from the early 1200s. Discover how they skirmished with Vikings, defended their Island Castles, helped King Robert the Bruce, fought at Bannockburn and how the moon became their lantern!

Schedule

Pick up – 10am at hotel/B&B in Arrochar or near by. Alternatively pick up from Arrochar & Tarbet Station (Slanj Restaurant)

Visit key sites around Loch Long, Arrochar & Tarbet the ancestral lands of the Warring Clan Macfarlane.

Ancient Ballehyhennan Burial Ground.

Suitable clothing for the weather on the day. 

Best Times for This Excursion

Departure time is 10am with the speed boat trip taking place at around 12 pm for 1 hour.  This involves stepping into very shallow water as we exit the boat onto the island. You may get one foot wet, two if your unlucky!

Tours can take place out of this time frame if discussed in advance.
